I had a beautiful weekend. It was simple, but it made me smile, laugh, cry and embrace the joy in my life.  I saw the beauty in each moment and it filled me with optimism for the future. 

We are expectant. We have been waiting. Those 9 weeks have felt like 9 months at times. Time has moved slowly. Change has happened rapidly.

I didn’t want to have a rare incurable disease but in accepting that I do, it has brought me a great deal of peace.

For me, a rainbow is a symbol of harmony. Each colour has its own worth, but together each colour compliments one another to create a whole. Nothing jars. Rainbows bring joy, hope and optimism as they make you stop in your tracks and take in their beauty.

Acceptance is a value we have needed to exercise a lot over the last 2 months. We have had to learn to accept a loss of control, to accept a disruption to our world, to accept changes to daily existences. Those who accepted these adjustments found peace quicker.

Is this Pandemic that uninvited visitor, who has appeared to disrupt the equilibrium by shining a cold, white light on the world, thus forcing us to scrutinise our daily existence? 

If we are moral and values-led… If we are ethical and humane…  If our actions speak louder than our words… If we do the right thing when no-one is watching then we know we have integrity. 

To start harnessing and harvesting our dreams we need to start by turning our can’ts into cans, and our dreams into plans. I intend to embrace being a dream-catcher for myself and others, to encourage others to realise their dreams as our dreams can become our realities if we are determined and committed to make them happen.

Becoming a teacher, becoming responsible for a class, a year group, a subject, a faculty, a school were natural steps in the level of responsibility I felt comfortable carrying on my shoulders.
