So, for me, recovery is about taking stock. Recovery is about reflecting. Recovery is about processing our experiences and emotions.
I may not have had ‘individual agency’ when I was 8 but I became an agent of change.
If each person who attended stands up, speaks up and speaks out, and refuses to be a bystander to racism, we move from being non-racists towards becoming anti-racists. Let’s all be agents, let’s all take action, today, not tomorrow.
We need to check our privilege and we need to commit to being better, to doing better. One thing I am going to commit to continuing to do is calling out all-white line ups.
As Brits we are obsessed with how we manage our time, but other cultures are more interested in how we manage our energy.

As a teacher and a school leader I was resourceful with little resource. I could think on my feet and find solutions. I could create something out of nothing as I worked in schools with deficit budgets or start up budgets, here are some examples.
I have released myself. I have found an escape. I have set myself free. I am free flowing. I have gone public.
For me choices are about conviction: self-belief, believing in your values and purpose, fuelled by your passion. Choices are about the alignment of your mission, vision and values.
How willing are we to take risks? How confident are we to act innovatively? How courageous are we to stand out? How bold are we to face our fear of failing?
